Robert Buckland QC MP welcomes the news that Churchward School will be opening in September 2018.
On behalf of the Department for Education, the Deputy Director for Free Schools said,
"I am very pleased to confirm that the Secretary of State has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with the Brunel SEN MAT in relation to Churchward School - a 75 place Special school for pupils, aged 11-19 with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and/or SCID (Social Communication and Interaction Difficulties') in Swindon.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the great commitment and energy which you and your colleagues have shown in reaching this point.
Free schools form an integral part of the Government’s education policy to improve choice and drive up standards in schools. I am therefore delighted that Churchward will bring new opportunities for children in Swindon.
I wish you all the best with the school’s opening in September 2018 and in the future."
Robert added, "This is a great opportunity for ASC children in Swindon, it follows from the brilliant efforts of the recent National Autism Awareness Week."
