Robert Buckland MP is calling on local community groups and charities to apply for the Tesco Bag of Help Scheme.

Large retailers must give the proceeds from the carrier bag charge to good causes and the Tesco Bag of Help Scheme uses this money to fund local community projects across the Country. Over £11.7 million has already been awarded to 1,170 local projects, including new parks, sports facilities, woodland walks and community gardens.

Robert Buckland MP said: “With the amount of funding available ranging from £8,000 to £12,000, this scheme is definitely worth applying for. This money could make a huge difference to a local charity or community group.”

The second round of the scheme has just launched and as well as local community groups and charities applying directly, projects can also be nominated by people living locally.

More information on the scheme, as well as further information on good causes that have benefitted from funding can be found by visiting www.tesco.com/carrier-bags
