Dementia Action Awareness Week

As part of his ongoing campaign to raise awareness of Dementia in Swindon, Sir Robert Buckland MP is inviting local residents affected by Dementia, their carers, family, and friends, to a Dementia Action Week Expo Event hosted by the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance.

Residents can choose to attend one of two sessions on Tuesday 16th May kindly hosted by Swindon Town FC Community Foundation at Foundation Park, SN1 2FD. The first session will run between 3pm – 4.30pm and the second session will take place between 5.30pm – 7pm.

This will be a great chance for those affected by Dementia, their carers, family, and friends to learn more about Dementia and the support they can receive locally.

Swindon Dementia Action Alliance are especially keen to spread the word with those who may not be connected yet with memory cafes and support services.

Sir Robert Buckland MP commented:

“The Alzheimer's Society estimates that around 2,700 people in Swindon are suffering with the effects of Dementia, but too many are doing it alone.

“That's why it is vitally important that we increase rates of diagnosis.

“And when that diagnosis happens, ensure that the necessary support is there, so that not only the person with Dementia is getting the care that they need, but their families and friends too.

“We have to end stigma, we have to increase education, and we have to do everything we can to support those suffering with Dementia, and everybody who cares for them.”

Please email [email protected] to register to attend this event with your choice of session.
