MP for South Swindon, Sir Robert Buckland has spoken at the launch of a heart-wrenching film, which was co-created by survivors of abuse to help champion access to mental health support.
Sir Robert joined other MPs including Maria Caulfield MP, Minister for Women and Mental Health, as well as The Women’s Health Ambassador for England, Professor Dame Lesley Regan at “The Road We’ve Had To Walked” film launch in Westminster.
Alongside the panel of speakers, which included Sir Robert Buckland, survivors of domestic abuse shared their own powerful experiences and insights.
Sir Robert Buckland commented
“As Justice Secretary, and also having worked closely with Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service, I have seen the trauma that domestic violence causes, so I was pleased to be asked to speak at the film launch and offer my support to Women’s Aid.”
The Road We’ve Had to Walk is part of Women’s Aid’s Deserve To Be Heard campaign, highlighting the devastating impact of domestic abuse on women’s mental health.
